Board Members of Community of Christ Professional Teachers’ Association
11:00 a.m. at Home Town Buffet

members present:  Pat Heady Winholtz, John Parrish, Charlotte Ruoff, Norman Ruoff, Cheron Tiffany, Cindy Frerking

1.         The meeting was called to order at 11:45 a.m.

2.         The minutes of the March 25, 2006 meeting was read and approved.

3.         Norm and/or Cindy will contact board member Carol Anderson to get her e-mail address so we can send them to her.

4.         Treasurer’s Report—and membership

1. Cash on hand in checking account $519.15

2. n the second quarter, $500 was distributed for the scholarship

3. The balance in the ED Jones (Lifetime membership funds) is $2,123,85.  It has earned $203.85 in interest.  So far, no money has been withdrawn in the 2006 year, and probably won’t be, as a transfer is not needed.

4. E.  Receipts for tax-deductions are given to members who mail in their dues

5. F.  e-mail database needs to be updated

5.         Newsletter—

1. Will be sent once a year by mail

2. we’ll mention the scholarship recipient

3. C.  the conference dinner will be Tuesday, March 27, 2007, 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Home Town Buffet

4. Will be mailed out in January

5. Will have a membership application

6. will have treasurer’s report

7. Cindy will contact a former scholarship recipient for an article

6.         World Conference—

1. There will be no booths this year

2. B.  the conference dinner will be Tuesday, March 27, 2007, 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Home Town Buffet

3. C.  We discussed having members and the board to wear buttons at conference.  Who will do this?

7.         Discussion—the future of the association

            A.  A discussion took place about what we want to do as an association

            B.  suggestions for directions

1. trip/cruise

2. networking

3. help with lesson planning

4. service projects
   --perhaps dictionaries?

5. preparing for certification

6. lectures

            C.  do we want to poll our members via e-mail or newsletter?

8.         There is some note about updating website.  Any idea what that means?

9.         The next meeting will be on November 18, 2006 at Home Town Buffet to clarify direction and newsletter
